Vintage Power, Glamorous Fashion & Studio 54, Halston Lifestyle & Style...
Just few weeks ago I watched the newly released Mini Serie "Halston" on Netflix. Starring Ewan McGregor, the series tracks Visionary Fashion Designer Halston in his uprise to worldwide fame in the 70s. Although not as known (At least here in Europe) as his long life antagonists like Oscar De La Renta and Calvin Klein, Halston´s unique style is magic to watch: caftan and glittery gowns, jumpsuits, ultrasuede trenches and flowing long dresses with sexy denudes. A syncretism of the 70s bohemian style with rich and sensual avantgarde sophistication for the modern woman. The man himself had his own striking look...
Vintage Halston´s Metallic Gown
I am sure I would have been his devoted fan. the Series (in my opinion a bit short of episodes) also portrays the wilderness and stylish decadence of famous nightclub Studio 54, since its inception in 1977 trough the 80s.. A paradise of wild creativity, glamourous and sensual fashion, hedonism, drugs and music. Who wouldn´t want to go back in time just to enjoy that, if even for a night?I would have enjoyed more episode, to get to know about Halson´s relationship with Andy Warhol, who gets only mentioned in the serie but never appears or Halston´s lover Victor Hugo windows trashy suicidial themed expositions.
Besides the amazing fashion, what caught my eye, as jewelry designer myself, are not only the gowns but the amazing jewelry signature style of iconic Elsa Peretti. Elsa first worked for Halston as a model and then as jewelry designer. She designed Halson´s first perfume bottle as well and then became Tiffany´s brand lead designer. Her signature sculpted styles include the bone cuff, the mini bottle pendant, the scorpion necklace and the snake necklace & belt all showcased in the show as the perfect stylish match to Halston clothing . Her jewelry is so sexy that honestly steals the show. The rigid cuffs she is wearing matching the mini bottle necklace or the snake chain belt have this strong futuristic, sculpted innovative style, typical of the 70s jewelry.
